První den přinesl českým atletům pouze jeden postupový úspěch a to ve skoku dalekém, kde Radek Juška předvedl v druhé sérii famozní skok v délce 8.24 m, čímž kvalifikaci ovládl a postoupil do hlavní soutěže. Prokázal tak svou letošní formu a nebylo daleko od překonání českého rekordu a můžeme se těšit na jeho další výkony v hlavní soutěži.
Svůj rozběh na 1500 m v silné světové konkurenci běžela Simona Vrzalová od začátku špatně takticky, jelikož mnoho času trávila v druhé dráze, místo toho, aby se zařadila k mantinelu a šetřila síly na finiš. Její rozběh byl velmi rychlý, protože vítězka Genzebe Dibaba zaběhla čas 4.02.67. Bohužel 80 m před cílem naše závodnice vzdala a běh nedokončila, podle jejího sdělení na základě velkého vyčerpání. Pokud by běh doběhla, zřejmě by postoupila na čas, protože z jejího rozběhu postupovala i devátá běžkyně. Ale to jsou jen dohady avšak pokud neměla Simona Vrzalová nějaký velmi těžký zdravotní problém měla tento závod dokončit.
Svou soutěž také zahájili a bohužel v kvalifikaci ukončily naše tři tyčkařky: Romana Maláčová, Jiřina Ptáčníková a Amálie Švábíková. Posledně jmenovaná svůj závod nezvládla a neskočila základní výšku 420 cm, zřejmě pro velkou nervozitu a únavu z náročné sezony, ale jistě jí účast přinesla velkou zkušenost a je vkladem do budoucnosti, kdy bude závodit na dalších závodech . Letos již svou formu prokázala překonáním juniorských rekordů a vysoce kvalitním umístěním na dalších závodech, proto jí budeme držet palce v její sportovní kariéře. Dalo by se říci, že zde symbolicky přebírá štafetu od naší nejlepší tyčkařky posledních let Jiřiny Ptáčníkové, která bohužel také nepostoupila do hlavní soutěže, jelikož výkon 435 cm na postup zdaleka nestačil. Ani naše letošní nejlepší tyčkařka Romana Maláčová do hlavní soutěže nepostoupila a kvalifikaci ukončila také výkonem 435 cm.
Takže z pěti závodníků soutěžících v prvním dni postoupil pouze jeden a to Radek Juška do soutěže, kdy bude skákat finále v sobotu 5.8. ve 21.05 SLEČ. Ostatní se mohou stát podporou dalších našich atletů bojujících o co nejlepší umístění.

The first day brought to Czech athletes only one successful advance in the long jump, where Radek Juška showed 8.24m in the second series, thus he dominated the qualification and advanced to the main competition. He proved his shape of this year and it was not far from breaking the Czech record. We can look forward to his other performances in the main competition.
In a strong world competition in heats in 1500m run Simona Vrzalová. From the beginning she ran badly tactically , as she spent a lot of time in the second track instead of joining the mantinel and sparing her strenght for the finish. Her start was very fast, as the winner Genzebe Dibaba run time 4.02.67. Unfortunately 80 meters just before the finish, our runner gave up and did not finish her run, according to her statement due to a great exhaustion. If she had finished her run, she would probably have advanced on the basis of time, because in her heatings even the ninth runner advanced. But that’s just a speculations. However, if Simona Vrzalová did not have a very serious health problem, she should have finished this race.
Our three female pole vaulters Romana Maláčová, Jiřina Ptáčníková and Amálie Švábíková started their competition but unfortunately ended in the qualification. The latter did not manage to race and did not meet the basic height 420 centimeters , probably due to great stress and exhaustion after the challenging season, but participation in the race surely brought her a good experience and investment for the future when she will compete in other races. This year, she has already proved her shape by breaking junior records and high-quality positition in other events, so we will cross our fingers to her in her sporting career. We could say that she symbolically takes over the baton from our best female pole vaulter of last year’s Jiřina Ptáčníková, who unfortunately did not advance to the main competition, because her performance of 435 cm was not sufficient enough. Neither this year’s best female pole vaulter Romana Maláčová advanced to the main competition and finished the qualification with a performance of 435 cm.
Thus from our five contestants on the first day, only one of them Radek Juška advanced in the competition,and he will jump the final on Saturday 5th August at 21.05 SLEČ. Others can become the support of our other athletes struggling for the best placement.
